Exceptional! Well worth the money!

The Preparatory Manual of Chemical Warfare Agents, 3rd edition is by far the best book I've read on the subject of chemical warfare agents. The author Jared Ledgard goes in great depth with each book section and chemical agent, using not only his own knowledge; but also, the use of peer-reviewed research articles and bioinformatics to provide all groups of readers with accurate information on each topic. The book is for literally ANYONE who has an interest in the subject. While medical and first aid responders would find the antidote and symptoms sections of high use, clean-up crews, and emergency personnel would find the dissemination techniques, T1/2 values, persistence ratings, and various other agent physical properties invaluable. Researchers in such fields as chemicals warfare, pesticides, toxicology, and numerous other scientific disciplines will make use of the detailed synthesis of each agent, as well as the lists of functional groups and chemical backbones for each of the major groups of organo-phosphates and organo-chlorides. In addition, the author has also provided the synthesis of numerous intermediates that can be used to create new agents. Laymen and non-chemists will enjoy the overviews in each section; and since the author has also provided a tutorial in chemistry, a reader with no chemistry background will still be able to read, and fully understand each section of this book. Not a good read for Atheist.

Someone wrote that this is just another Christian Smear campaign. While some could counter argue that Pagan writing or teaching is as well a smear campaign. But for either..... neither is the case. But if you're a new ager, a wiccan or any other of the hundreds of mystic revelers take note this book is definitely on the money as far as the history of it goes. If you think having your bubble popped is offensive then don't read it. But if you are not fulfilled in your current mystic experience and wondering why it just doesn't sit well with you then I offer you the chance to know why you don't quite feel so right about what your doing. Read this book and open your eyes. Not yer Christ conscience or your inner child. Just your eyes. Soon you should understand the facts and tracing about what it is you got involved in is nothing new. It has its beginning long before you were born. Only the author's of paganism are still around today playing the same card game with the same loaded deck.

For the Christian this book is a must read as well. You'll find more aspects of pagan rituals and teachings have been a part of your life than you realize and it's time to grow a bit and give the lies the boot.

This book is a "V-8" moment for some of us. We see things in society and we wonder how or why people get involved in such things. This historic book traces beliefs from some of their oldest sources and follows thems down to current times and even personalities. There is a saying," Nothing is new under the sun", and this book seems to prove that. There is a battle of good and evil waging since time began, and those that wish to fight on one side may not be able to stand this book because it exposes the truth from lie, fact from fiction, and if you will, right from wrong. But if you are curious to know where things came from, have an open mind, and are not afraid of a self check, this book will prove that everyone must choose a side.

This will enable you to "fight the good fight of faith" and to recognize the background activity of anything that "would exalt itself against the knowledge of God" or solicits worship or compromise from you .

So much cheaper than the Factory Service Manual, but has tons of info about servicing the FJR, including ratings on the difficulty of the different procedures. A must have for any FJR1300 owner who likes to save money by performing their own maintenance.

Although I do feel that this Haynes publication is worth the money, I did not realize that it was published in England for Continental riders. Since much of the information presented in this book is not fully pertinent to the U.S. versions of the Yamaha FJR1300, I prefer, even at the greater expense, the actual Yamaha publication found elsewhere.

Haynes does a good job but the cross referencing is a little confusing, and if you do a little research online before you start your repair, you'll usually find an easier and faster way than Haynes recommends.

Never ever get into their car!!

Serial Killers is divided into three parts: Part one covers the history of serial murder from its ancient roots to approximately the mid-1960s, when Vronsky argues it became viral in its postmodernity. Vronsky proposes that modern culture, media, and society degrade certain classes of people in the perception of homicidal psychopaths, who serially target and murder them in an attempt to satisfy increasingly addictive sexual, hedonistic fantasies. Vronsky points to the high proportion of street prostitutes, runaway youths, cruising homosexuals, or people who are homeless, impovershed, disabled, or elderly among serial killer victims; i.e., victims who are often characterized as society's "throwaways". Vronsky argues that only the presence of children and young college girls among preferred victims of serial killers raise concerns about these predators in society at large. He reviews several sources of statistical data on serial homicide, its patterns, and trends, particularly in the United States, and explores the myth of the recent “serial killer epidemic”.

Part 2 focuses on the psychopathology of serial killers, their evolution from child to adult, and the various emerging and evolving categories and profiles of serial offenders. Vronsky points out that law enforcement, psychologists, psychiatrists, and criminologists disagree among themselves as to how to categorize the broad range of offender types, and explores some of the different approaches, all illustrated with case study examples.

Part 3 focuses on the investigation of serial homicide, particularly on the various profiling systems from the FBI’s “crime scene analysis” profiling, to British law enforcement’s “psychological profiling”, and Canadian police development of “geographic profiling.” Vronsky explores the pros and cons of the various systems with case study examples of how profiling has both succeeded and failed in homicide investigations.

Serial Killers concludes with a chapter based on FBI studies and statements by serial killers and a few survivors of serial killer attacks as how to best survive an encounter with a serial killer.

You get all of this with an "easy" to read format.

Great read, highly recommend as an intro

Compared to other informational books on serial killers out for sale at present, this is one of the best I've read so far; Vronsky distinguishes the integral differences between types of killers--mass murderers, spree killers, &c.-- and informs the reader of the categorisations law enforcement agencies such as the FBI have used past to present(power assurance, power assertive, &c.) and their characteristics while introducing the reader to one or two killers that fit each category, filling in blanks along the way. It's not ridiculously comprehensive, in the sense that this is not an encyclopaedia but an overview, so if you're looking for an engaging introduction to serial killers this is the book. His writing is factual but conversational, not dry, like a textbook, or grating, like John Douglas's line of profiling books. He can write well, as well as relay factually correct information(incredibly refreshing, let me tell you). I highly recommend it, even if you've already made your way through a few 'overview on serial killers & profiling' type books.

Great therapy tool . . .

Awesome for supporting clients experiencing symptoms of PTSD, anxiety, adhd, axis 2 struggles, dual diagnosis counseling and as a start with depression. I bring this book into session, and most clients really like it. Very popular. As with any guide there is a certain amount of tailoring activities to each individual, and making tweaks here and there, overall a really impressive guide and base to mindfulness work. I like to use this a lot in support of CBT work and practice, as an introduction to therapy, as well as an ongoing support.

After each exercise I use client feedback, during process time, to make minor improvements to certain exercises that need a tweak here and there. It's worth it to purchase.the paperback, due to the necessity of making copies and handouts for colleagues and clients alike. Great book to share with other therapists in the workplace too!!

handy, useful, straightforward, not new-agey

This book gives clear instructions for introducing and practicing a mindfulness program with others. It even offers ways to simply explain how mindfulness affects the brain. Research shows that many people with stress and/or mental health problems can benefit from midfulness execises. This book helps clinicians offer the opportunity to experience mindfulness to others and encourages clinicians to practice their own program of mindfulness regularly.

Can't print worksheets from Kindle. Here's how to get them

This is a lovely book which I would give five stars but for the difficulty I had in getting printable copies of the worksheets with the Kindle version.

I wrote Amazon customer service. The response was, in part, "Due to publishers restrictions you cannot get reproducible forms for these books as these books are in Kindle format. Amazon is just a seller platform for these books, the best person who can help you get these forms is the publisher of these books."
I was surprised at how little help Amazon offered. Customer service did not even provide contact information for the publisher.

The publisher was much more helpful. The rep told me to do a search in the Kindle book for "download." That will take you to a link to their site. Once there you can establish an account and download the forms. It works.

My son says he loves this book--and that speaks volumes. He is 16 years old and is enrolled in an Auto Technology course. He is also home schooled, and I chose this as his math text for the year. He says that he can see how he will use every problem that he has tried in the book. I have a library copy, and plan to purchase one for him based on his feedback.

I was very dissatisfied with the condition of this book when I received it. The book's condition was very poor - contrary to the description given. I paid a lot of money for this book and expected it to be in very good condition as mentioned in it's description. I warn you to be very careful when purchasing from WAREHOUSE DEALS, INC.

Inspirational, touching, sometimes quirky! Of all the entries though, the one by Lynley Tulloch, "I am a vegan writer" broke my heart. She chose to embed her (writer's) consciousness into that of a factory hen, experiencing her last few days of horror. Read it and weep, but let it make you stronger!
Other entries provide much hope: the teenagers and younger kids are so awe-inspiring!

I learned a lot of things to do with my spouse to keep the spice in my marriage. As a newly married couple we have date nights but nothing like this book discussed. This book gave us some great ideas that will help us step il our marriage to the next level. A must read for couples!!!!!

About the Author
Diane Larsen-Freeman is Professor Emerita of Education, Professor Emerita of Linguistics, and Former Director of the English Language Institute at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. She is also a Distinguished Senior Faculty Fellow at the School for International Training in Brattleboro, Vermont. Dr. Larsen-Freeman has been a conference speaker in over 60 countries of the world and has published over 100 articles in her areas of interest. Her Heinle/Cengage titles include "The Grammar Book: Form, Meaning, and Use for English Language Teachers" (third edition, 2015, co-authored with Marianne Celce-Murcia), "From Grammar to Grammaring" (2003, authored), and the fourth edition of "Grammar Dimensions: Form, Meaning, and Use" (2007, Series Director). From 1980-1985, Dr. Larsen-Freeman was Editor of the journal "Language Learning." In 1997, Dr. Larsen-Freeman was inducted into the Vermont Academy of Arts and Sciences. In 1999, she was selected by ESL Magazine as one of "the ESL pioneers." In 2000, she received the lifetime achievement award from Heinle & Heinle.
